Several gifts from the Concordia Lutheran Semiary Guild were celebrated in our chapel service today.
In following with its annual tradition, the Guild presented first year students Jeff Dul and Ling Pui Yeong with copies of The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (Kolb/Wengert) and The Proper Distinction between Law and Gospel (C.F.W. Walther).
A special gift of a Baptismal font, made by Stuart Jansen, husband of Guild Chair Marilyn Jansen, was also presented to the whole seminary community, and dedicated during the service. The font has two primary purposes: to help pastoral students prepare to administer and celebrate in the parish the gift of baptism, and to remind all worshippers in the seminary chapel of their own baptism. The silver bowl inside the font was previously used by Bethel Lutheran Church in Edmonton, and had been presented there by the Jr. Confirmation class in May of 1972.
