Fall Quest Course Begins September 29, 2015

“Religion and Pop Culture” with Dr. Bill Anderson begins September 29, 2015.

This four-part Quest series explores the connections between religious faith, especially Christianity, and popular expressions of culture. The instructor is the Rev. Dr. Bill Anderson, professor of Biblical Studies at Concordia University of Edmonton. Dr. Anderson holds a Ph.D. in Old Testament and is rostered as a pastor in LCC. His longstanding interest in pop culture connects well with his role as founder and director of Concordia’s “Canadian Centre for Scholarship and the Christian Faith.”
Please join us on four Tuesday evenings in a row, between September 29 and October 20, from 7-9 p.m.  on the CLS campus or via web-based audio-video link. There is no cost to participate, but please register for the course by email (admin@concordiasem.ab.ca) or phone (780-474-1468, ext. 225).

May 29, 2020 Sacred Convocation

MARK THE DATE: Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton Sacred Convocation Friday, May 29, 2020 7:00 p.m. MDT Live ONLINE at: https://youtu.be/fyo95XOsz54
Watch from home as SEVEN new pastoral candidates receive their first Call into ministry, and TWO vicar/interns are placed for service. We thank God for His marvelous blessing upon these men and their families, and upon His Church here in Canada, as Lutheran servants and congregations are connected through this assignment. Graduating students will also receive their degrees and theological diplomas.
Honoree Fran Wershler will receive the Faith in Life recognition. Nearly two-thirds ($650,000) of the funding needed to train these pastors and vicar/interns comes from congregations and individuals across the Church. Thank you for your critical role as a donor to train these pastors (and deacons). Because we are mission minded, a tithe of our convocation donations will also support the LCC mission work in Southeast Asia, where four of our graduates s…

First Annual Research Forum

On September 11 CLS promoted its first Annual Research Forum. Faculty and a guest presenter discussed the Theological research they completed in the past year.
A graduate school's vocation - as it is for any university - is carried out on a triangular basis, with each point supporting and sustaining the others:
· Teaching (in the sense of formal education)
· Research
· Extension
As an academic place, our school is also a place, then, where knowledge is revisited, built and shared in formal and informal education.
Our seminary supports each professor's research by allocating time and means for formal research. Each year, research projects are received and approved; completed projects are shared with the larger community; and final results of each project are evaluated for publication in various ways: either as research articles in specialized journals, or as a doctoral thesis, or as a book.
The inaugural forum’s guest presenter was Rev. Mark Sander, pastor in Mannsville, AB, who sha…
