Pastor’s Tune Up: Relax, Refresh, Renew

CLS is hosting a PASTOR’S SABBATICAL WEEK on June 6-10 (program 7, 8, 9 with 6 and 10 for travel), held at the wonderful conference centre of The King’s University, 9125 – 50 Street, Edmonton, AB.

Programming includes morning and one afternoon speakers and interaction time. Schedule details will follow. Featured speakers include Dr. Reed Lessing, Dr. Colleen Hammermaster, Dr. Robert Bugbee, and Revs Darren Dressler & Mike Keith.

Other sectionals will be led by members of the faculty and local/participating clergy. Submit your proposals to Rev. Dr. Jim Gimbel, jgimbel@concordiasem.ab.ca no later than April 1, 2016.

The cost of $375 covers the overhead at King’s. There is a $25 discount for alumni, and an additional $25 discount for those involved as Field Education or Vicarage Supervisors.

Housing will be in six bedroom apartment suites (Check out Accommodations), with meals at the chef-prepared conference meal centre.  Daily topics and sectionals will be at King's. Evening worship will be at CLS, where there will also be a variety of evening activities for clergy fellowship and rejuvenation.

Registration is limited to 50 so reserve your place immediately.  Registration discounts end April 1 and an additional $100 cost after April 15.

Join the Concordia Lutheran Seminary family on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 7:00pm for our 35th Sacred Convocation at Bethel Lutheran Church, 298 Bethel Drive, Sherwood Park AB. German Christmas Service / Deutscher Weihnachtsgottesdienst

CLS presents a German Advent and Christmas service with traditional hymn and carol singing in the German language on Sunday, December 20th, 2009, from 4:00 – 5:30 P.M. in the seminary chapel.

The service will include German readings from the Scriptures, German Christmas Carols, and a message preached in German by seminary president, Dr. Manfred Zeuch.  Whether or not you speak and understand the German language, all are invited to attend and join this celebration of our Lord’s birth.

First Annual Research Forum

On September 11 CLS promoted its first Annual Research Forum. Faculty and a guest presenter discussed the Theological research they completed in the past year.
A graduate school's vocation - as it is for any university - is carried out on a triangular basis, with each point supporting and sustaining the others:
· Teaching (in the sense of formal education)
· Research
· Extension
As an academic place, our school is also a place, then, where knowledge is revisited, built and shared in formal and informal education.
Our seminary supports each professor's research by allocating time and means for formal research. Each year, research projects are received and approved; completed projects are shared with the larger community; and final results of each project are evaluated for publication in various ways: either as research articles in specialized journals, or as a doctoral thesis, or as a book.
