Starting Tuesday, September 3, Concordia
Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton is offering a 9-month evening course in Biblical
Hebrew (BL-090/091) by distance education – you can access it on the internet from anywhere. The course is
tentatively scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7:00-8:30 pm
(Mountain Time). The instructor is Dr. Stephen Chambers, the seminary’s
Academic Dean and resident professor of New Testament.
In addition to the twice-a-week “live” online
classes, led by Dr. Chambers, the course relies heavily on students’
independent work using the course’s textbook, workbook, and online materials. The
course follows Basics of Biblical Hebrew (2nd edition) by
Gary Pratico and Miles Van Pelt. A detailed course schedule and syllabus is
available upon request.
The course is reasonably priced at $250
per semester. (Church-workers in Lutheran Church-Canada pay even less.)
Sounds very interesting. Don't know if I still have the mental chops to attempt to learn a foreign language but I would sure like to give it a try.
